Pet of the Month

Hi... my name is Denny
I am a little Westie mix
~~~
I live with my Mommie, Delores, and my Daddy, Steve.
I also live with Pookie, who is a little Corgi mix.
Miss Dale has been taking care of us for about 4 years now. We really love her because she gives us lots of treats and takes us for long walks. Pookie likes the walks better than I do though.
I like it best when Miss Dale sits on the sofa and lets me get up there with her and she gives me tummy scratches.
Miss Dale came one night about 12:00 midnight because it was a storm going on outside and she knew that Pookie and I would be scared.
She said lots of comforting things to us and stayed a little while and then left.
Here lately I have been staying in a downstairs bathroom because sometimes I pee pee on the carpet. Miss Dale said that she hates it worse than I do that I have to stay in there. Sometimes Pookie stays in there with me.
Well....Mommie and Daddy had a "rivah" home built this past year. They love it and we go down there and stay too.
One day Daddy told Miss Dale that I got lost and when Daddy found me I was all dirty and covered with mud. He said I was in a ditch about a half mile from the house.
Miss Dale said that Daddy should watch me closer because I am getting up there in years, now you know girls don't tell their age but I am over 17 years old.
This past week we all packed up and went to the rivah....well about 4:30 a.m. one morning, Pookie and I had to go outside to potty.
Daddy let us out but it was so dark and I could not get my scent to find my way back home. Pookie left me.
I was so scared....so I began to walk and I walked and I walked but I could not find my house.
One of my legs is stiff anyway because I have a steel plate in it. It has been there since I was a small puppy. So this walking thing was getting on my nerves if you know what I mean.
Well to get on with my story....I could not hear Daddy calling me either, you know I am a little hard of hearing these days. I got caught up in some briars and I got in some mud too. Where is that house....will somebody please tell me where is that house!
Well the sheriff stopped his car and said to me...."are you lost little girl?"
Oh man was I glad to see him...he put me in the back of his car, I felt so special riding in a sheriff's car and I just knew he would find my Daddy, I just knew he would. But instead, he put me in his jail cell!!! He even put a striped little suit on me!! And that's not all....he called me a "poodle". How insulting is that? Oh my, doesn't he know anything?
Well I knew I would just have to sit and wait because I knew Daddy would come for me soon.
Daddy called the sheriff and asked him if he had seen me and the sheriff said yes, I have the little girl right here...she is the cutest little poodle...there he goes again with that "poodle" thingy.
When Daddy came through the door I was so glad to see him!! The sheriff told Daddy that he found me 2 1/2 miles from home. Daddy took me home and Mommie and Daddy gave me a bath and put me on my pillow. They gave me all of my medicine in cheese...oh boy!
They were so happy to see me and me them...of course I am going to play this one for a long time...it doesn't get any better than this!!
Oh my...when Daddy told Miss Dale what had happened, she cried.
She told Daddy a thing or two....she said "don't you ever let Denny go out without a leash on....she is deaf and she will never hear you calling her". "Denny is precious (that's what Miss Dale calls me), and I would just die if anything happen to her".
I know the next time Miss Dale keeps us, she will give me some special attention and of course I am going to play that one up too.
Thank you Miss Dale for choosing me "Pet of the Month", see what getting lost will get you! Pookie is going to be jealous! I just know she is!
Well, time for another nap...bye-bye....
